湿式氧化法脱硫的工艺流程中加入888脱硫催化剂后就称为888法脱硫。888法的特点与888脱硫催化剂的特点是不相同的，比如“888”本身不脱硫，不存在工作硫容，但把“888”加入到弱碱溶液中组成脱硫循环液后，脱硫运作时，就存在工作硫容。
